Founded in 2011 in Manchester UK, by Frances (accordion) and Paul (guitar). With backgrounds in Irish traditional music, bluegrass and gypsy jazz, Yiddlesticks have worked with several amazing fiddle players over the years and are delighted to be currently working with the uniquely talented Josie Wexler from Sheffield.
Klezmer is traditional music as played by Yiddish-speaking people from Eastern Europe. It became popular in the Manchester area in the late 1990s with pub sessions in New Mills, which led to visits to Klezmer festivals and workshops to further study the genre. Yiddlesticks are one of the first and still one of the leading Klezmer ensembles in the area.
Yiddlesticks play music from European traditions in addition to Klezmer. Available for ceilis, ceilidhs and Klezmer Keilidhs as well as concerts, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs and any occasion that would suit an acoustic folk ensemble.
